Leecia Eve, the Buffalo native who has served as Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s deputy secretary for economic development, has been hired as Verizon’s vice president of government affairs for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
She will join the telecommunications giant July 15, succeeding Jim Gerace, who has been appointed Verizon’s chief communications officer.
As vice president for the tri-state region, Eve will present Verizon’s viewpoint on public policy, government, external affairs and regulatory matters, the company announced in a news release.
Eve is the daughter of former Deputy Assembly Speaker Arthur O. Eve, and her brother Eric previously served as vice president of government relations for Verizon Communications.
She has held several positions in state government and previously worked on the U.S. Senate staffs of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Joseph Biden and as a partner with the Hodgson Russ law firm. She ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2008.
