The former FWS building on Elmwood Avenue in North Buffalo will be turned into a 21-room boutique hotel, banquet space, apartments and offices, developer Rocco Termini said today.
Termini said the hotel will open in June 2014 under the ownership of Acqua, which also runs a restaurant on Niagara Street in Buffalo.
Buffalo Spree will become the anchor tenant, occupying 8,000 of the building’s 100,000 square feet, Termini added.
Also moving into the building will be Utilant, a technology company, and a yoga business also is planning on being a tenant, Termini said.
Termini said that the building will be designed in a contemporary style, with high ceilings and tall windows.
“We’re very excited and the staff is just thrilled," Larry Levite, owner of Buffalo Spree, said of the magazine’s move from Williamsville to Buffalo. It has been based on Corporate Parkway for the past 13 years.
“We were attracted to Rocco’s reputation. That is a big part why we made the move,” Levite said.
