Robert Schoemann of Schoemann’s Road Service of Buffalo received the American Towman ACE Award for achievement in service performance. The award is presented by American Towman magazine, a trade publication serving emergency road service professionals.

Hillside Family of Agencies affiliate HillsideWork-Scholarship Connection named Ann Swan to its advisory board. HW-SC helps at-risk students stay in school and graduate. Swan is an active local philanthropist and retired Buffalo Public Schools teacher. Additionally, she runs the William E. and Ann L. Swan Foundation and participates on the board of directors for Hilbert College, the YMCA and Christ the King Seminary.

Company Connections

BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and the Buffalo Sabres Foundation are holding a three-day skate drop-off for the Martin Luther King Park rink. Skates can be dropped off today from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the BCBS Headquarters on the corner of West Genesee and Seventh Street in Buffalo; on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Pure Hockey, 3265 Sheridan Drive, Amherst; and on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at First Niagara Center, before the Sabres game. Donated skates will be refurbished, cleaned and sharpened by Pure Hockey, then donated to MLK Park to be used as loaner skates.

Contributing

Autoplace Nissan and Autoplace Infiniti recently donated $3,500 to Veterans One-stop Center of Western New York, an independent nonprofit organization that assists veterans and their families with social, health, educational, economic and supportive services. The dealerships will donate a portion of the proceeds from each car they sell to the work of Veterans One-stop. The center is located at 1280 Main St. in Buffalo and provides a comfortable home base for veterans.
