Senior citizens are being encouraged to apply for help covering the cost of emergency repairs in their homes to address hazardous conditions.

New York State’s Residential Emergency Services to Offer Repairs to the Elderly program (RESTORE) awarded $50,000 in grant funding to be administered by West Side Neighborhood Housing Services, according to Senator Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo, who helped push for the grant.

Homeowners age 60 and older living in the city of Buffalo can apply for up to $5,000 to cover emergency repairs they cannot afford to pay for themselves. To determine eligibility and to apply for funds, call 885-2344.
